Winter Weekend of Wonderment

Winter has arrived but for some reason it’s warmer and drier than the summer. Rather than worry about climate-change we’re just going to organise some fantastic spins to take advantage of the perfect trail conditions.
On Saturday Sean will lead a spin around Three Rock. This one will be suitable for anyone and beginners are particularly welcome. Meet at Taylors at 9.45am for a 10am start.
Alternatively, for a faster spin, meet Richie (086 8201549) at Taylors at 9am for a quick blast. Or you could head out on Rach*a*els park spin at 10am too.
On Sunday there will be a harder spin with Oisin taking charge. “The route will be up the Kilmashogue hill climb (or alternatively the standard way up Three Rock) then over to Glencullen via the wocas, along to Prince Willies and then continue along that trail above Cloon woods to the Glencree side of the featherbeds, then back along the road but cutting over the bog on the right hand side to decend down through Cruagh woods. I’d like to keep this a fast pace with minimum stopping.” Meet at Taylors at 10am for this one too.

Anyone up for a medium paced spin on Sunday? With respect to Oisin’s spin, I dont fancy chasing him around the mountains for 4 hours, trying to catch my breath! Giz a text, mail, whatever.

Well,
It was great to see so many people out today, must’ve been nearly 30!
And the trails so dry too…
Thanks to everyone for coming out, I hope everyone had as good a time as I did.
Great to see Niamh back after a long absense and Brian seeing the light and coming back to MAD.
We might have to set up a triathalon section in the future too…

Well that was a very sweet night ride, 8 of us converged at Ticknock and headed for the aerials, we cut over the first turn right off the ascent to Fairycastle, hit down off this trail to the left, then did some nice little trail,…
.. That brought us to the fireroad, across here to the top of MADjestic, next it was over to Rock n Roll, towards the new trail with the laddered bombhole, followed by a super rip through the newly revamped mad club course, (twice for some of us) Hats off to Annesley who cleared the climb at the end both times..
…we then traversed up and over to the end of No Dabs, which despite it’s run down state was great craic, one very windy traverse to mid-way on the boneshaker, those who had parked at Ticknock departed here and 5 of us flew down the B’shaker, I took the left at the top of the gravel pile here(Thanks Annesley) having no choice due to the speed went down the near vertical face and was promptly shot down the next section of trail albeit with a rather big grin….
… It was a great spin that left me on real buzz, then Alex got past me on the last bloody corner!!..I heard Richie and Shane use the word hairy a few times which is always good, we also have a new Oisin, who very kindly monitored the rear of the group;)
