nice photos lads, especially Arek -some great snaps of the action.
Notice how I covered my face with my arm in the photo so as not to be spotted
though I was rumbled eventually.
The day started off pretty cold but as I was talking with Richie on the start line the sun came out and notched-up a few degrees
Those steps were the hardest part,
legs felt like lead and bike seemed the weight of a full-on downhill rig in the later laps!
The race was great overall, great organisation by the imbrc’ers, and a really nice trail thru the park, a very intense hour though, myself and Johnny McCabe pulled away from the rest of the pack by the 2nd lap and kept up the momentum to give ourselves a bit of breathing space.
I tried to catch Johnny in later laps but he’s savage fast and I never got near him.
Richie Close was also racing for MAD and had a good race, Mel also was flying along, it was Ryans first outing on a cyclo-bike in Ireland and he did MAD proud with 15th place, I dare say he might have pipped Rory Walsh from EPIC and made 14th place if not for the bunch holding him back on his first and slowest lap!
Thanks to Sean and Shane for the roars of encouragement on each lap!

Yep, great day out - glad they did not post the mtb results, but on the plus side I think I was the last person to be lapped!
Was also good to gauge where I am fitness wise, needless to say after the race I had a detailed training schedule planned which was due to start tonight, but as I was going to get the bike this evening, I could have sworn a couple of drops of rain landed in the garden, so decided play it safe and postpone the savageness till tomorrow…

The Cross race was a heap of fun. The course was fast and relentless with no break for air…
As Fergal mentioned, my hopes of doing well were a little dashed due to starting so far back on the grid. It was pretty frustrating knowing that just after coming out of the second single track section you are already 1:30 back on the leaders and your only 6 minutes into the race! Ahh, well - will have to do more CX races next year to get a gridding
Special thanks to Sean for giving me a lend of his CX bike. The tiny tires handled surprisingly well!
Roll on K-Capital! (on that note, anyone possibly thinking of racing, put that into your schedule - best run race series I’ve been to, and it’s in Ireland! http://www.kcapitalcup.com)
