Our original plan was to head up the Sally Gap and return via Enniskerry. It was way too icy on Saturday morning so we decided to head around the Blessington lakes instead. We turned off the main road in Brittas, down a frosty back lane. All was going well, straight line, slightly uphill. Then we got to the first corner and off slides Sean, Mel slides off into him and I plough into the melee. Result - I think Sean broke his hip and my knee rotated 360 degrees. I fell off again a minute later - more pain. Decided this wasn't such a good idea so headed back to the N81 and did an awesome 80km among the traffic. There are rumors that the whole incident was concocted by the Downey/Kilkenny Axis of Evil as part of a MAD takeover plot. There was indeed a bit of excitement on the road spin. Met at Taylors, then changed venue to Djouce. Had a blast in all the mud and water and mud. Had a good 3 hours, fast pace at times. Met up with Ben, Derek, and English Dave at Powerscourt (closed) and then headed up, up, around, and down. Through mud, schlomp, and a lot of water. <br/>Good craic all in all.
