Irish XC MTB National Championships Sunday 20th July
The Irish XC MTB National Championships make their 2008 return to the singletrack of Kilruddery estate, Co. Wicklow on Sunday 20th July
The event is being hosted by Team WORC and as ever will be a professionally managed and run affair.
Kilruddery was the opening venue of this years K-Capital Cup, which attracted a huge entry, and had an excellent series of fast singletrack sections and of course - ‘The Rock’.
The Nationals promises to be even better with work well underway on brand new sections, this race sees a return for the super-fast Belmont loop with the Belmont house being used in two directions.

ok folks, let’s start the names rolling-in : who is going?
Yet again, it’d be great to see a huge MAD representation, so get your bike tuned-up and get ready for some excellent racing - Kilruddery is a great venue so try your best to get there!
Morgan will be making his return to the MTB world after his little Sunday-jaunt over in France, Steve and Oisin will be literally coming back down to earth after their high-altitude, high-adrenalin MegaAvalanche thriller, I’m sure Redbeard and Richie Close will be battling it out yet again, Mel and Ryan hopefully will not have an international event that weekend so they will be scorching around the track, Paddy O’Brien hopefully will not have a free-booze work do the night before, Barry ‘Blitz’ O’Brien will hopefully be rockin’ his way around……right - who else???????

I’ll be along anyway but Mel will be in Germany taking part in her Nationals.
So is “The Rock” part of the course then?
July 14th, 2008 at 9:39 am
hadn’t heard about The Rock as yet, if it is, I’m gonna practice it a bit better this yer - I was fine first time down with about 40 people all around me doing flips over the bars etc… then my 2nd and 3rd goes at it with no-one around were brutal, I know the exact section though - there’s an off-camber rock where the soil wore-away to the left of it, which I rolled over slowly instead of hopping over with more speed

Yep, I’ll be tootling around on Sunday also.
July 14th, 2008 at 10:23 am

July 14th, 2008 at 10:24 am
will Mr Diamond be making a comeback with the drooling, grunting, and bottles of lucosade sport?
July 14th, 2008 at 10:30 am
Thanks for that image Paddy.
I will be there as well, this is gonna be be great.
Has anyone got any tips on how to get super fit in 5 days?
July 14th, 2008 at 10:41 am
Lads, all this drooling and grunting is doing nothing for making mtbing a more spectator friendly sport you know. Tootling on the other hand is much more civilised - I’ll be doffing my cap to the crowd on each lap
