Kudos to Sean & Alex too who stood in the freezing cold for 3 & 1/2 hours handing out bottles & encoragement to all! Cheers lads! :)
Yeah thanks Sean & Alex for doing the bottles was a great help... Savage course, anoyed as I had a fall and twisted my ankle and took a while to get going again. Best thing is I also did not come last again :-> I just really need to get faster...
shoite i really need to get faster! 40th out of 70 racers is a bit on the dodgey side...
feck this, i'm racing castlewellan to try and improve my standings!
savage race today, such a nice (sport) lap, and was really enjoying the battles i was having with the few lads and ladies that seemed to always be beside me on the course.
all in all an ok comeback to the racing!
What a nice race :)
Just wanted to say thanks again to Sean for being a prime bottler as usual - it is really nice to have so much support and great to be able to not have to worry about all that stuff.
And well done to Oisin!
Thanks a million to Sean and Alex. Having reliable bottler people is great to have, really lets you focus on the job in hand..
Congrats Oisin, Mel and Ash! MAD is becoming very savage altogether. If there was a team prize........
Yep, bit thanks to the bottler's - but I'm a little disappointed Sean, no berating... :-)
I'm gutted about not finishing - needless to say there's a CRC order already in for UST's and some more Joe's Sealant!. Felt great for my race, had some nice tussles with other competitors racing to the single track sections.
Well done to Oisin, Mel, Ash, and all the racers - was a great day for MAD.
BTW, when are the club champs kicking off?!?!? If the NPS is done and dusted by the end of May we'll all be kicking our heels up till the marathons in August!
Maybe we should have a mid year club race and beers just to make sure paddy keeps his drinking fitness up...
don;t be silly .. i'll always have my drinking fitness!
In all honesty though, i don't booze half as much as my reputation does!
what a day, that was class!!!!
I can't wait to do the course again, some great new trails
big thanks to Sean and his band of bottlers, really appreciate the support from everyone!
That was some class racing today! Well done everyone and especially thanks to the bottle people. Looking forward to riding those new trails again soon. Djouce has definitely become the MTB mecca of Wicklow.
loved the weather, loved the trails, I had 2.5 laps of non-dab greatness only to fall apart on the last part, but still nudged into the top 10 - Castlewellan next - big effort for that one!
Just did a quick count on the results - we had 18 competitors in the various categories yesterday. That's great for a club of our size!
Great job everyone on the racing. As Richie said, really nice to see so many competitors out racing. A race like that will bring along your technical ability so much (I know it helps mine!)
Also, thanks for all the cheers around the course - it really helps and a massive big thanks to Sean for doing the feed and generally helping me out! You were putting the GB soigneurs to shame ;) I know how much it must be hurting not racing. (I had a 6 month injury as a basketball player where I was only aloud to walk... slowly...) Your day will come again...
I wrote a bit about my race here (http://www.ryansherlock.com/). Fergal, feel free to use what you want.
Well done to everyone yesterday, hope ye all had as much fun as I did.
Thanks to everyone who was shouting for me, it was really encouraging...my head was down and focused, so I'm not sure who was shouting where but I heard it none the less and it helped a lot!! ...and I was super chuffed to get 3rd place at the end too :o)
