XC NPS Course Update

The MAD NPS crew have been busy all this week planning the season finale to the 2010 NPS.

MAD Presents NPS Final Round

The Mountainbiking Association of Dublin presents the final round of the 2010 cross country NPS on the 4th of July on Three Rock Mountain, Dublin. This will be an amazing race on a true MTB course featuring brand new superfast trails, courtesy of MAD Singletrack Engineering Dept. This race is also the fourth and final round of the 2010 Leinster XC League. Stay tuned for a course preview.

New Training Startup from MAD Rider

MAD member Ollie Castle starting a new company. Tribe Guru is an Irish startup aiming to provide turbo training videos for cyclists. They are currently in search of good quality video footage of any form of biking, from track racing to downhill, anything goes. Also, for a background track to peoples indoor suffering, they need music from up and coming bands or djs from any walk of life or genre.

The IMBRC got the 2010 XC NPS off to a great start with their race in Slade Valley. Great organisation, a fantastic course and perfect weather made an ideal day of racing for over 240 competitors. MAD had some great results on the day:

MAD MTB Beginners Series Spring 2010

Our Spring series of beginners mtb spins starts this Saturday in Ballinastoe. This will be an easy introduction to mountainbiking for first-timers or a chance for people to return to the sport. Please ensure your bike is in good working order and don’t forget your helmet. Check out our Beginners Page for more details on what to wear and bring.
If you have any questions, or if you just want to tell us you’re coming along, drop an email to the committee. The course is open to riders over 16 years of age. Riders under 18 must present a parental consent form to the club committee. Riders under 16 may attend on the condition that a parent also takes part and stays with the group at all times – please discuss this with the committee beforehand.
The first day will be around Ballinastoe on Saturday April 17th, meeting at 9.45am, departure at 10am – sharp. We’ll aim to finish about 1pm or so. You can find a trail map and directions here.
The beginners rides are running every second week – but you should make sure to get out on your bike in-between too.

Leinster XC League Begins on Sunday

The first round of the four-race Leinster XC League takes place this Sunday in Kilbrannish, near Bunclody, Co. Wexford. New club Racing 795 have laid out an all-new course for the event. You can read more on IrishXCMTB.com.
The dates for the Leinster XC League are as follows:
28th March – Bunclody – Racing 795
4th April – Dundalk – Cuchulainn CC
11th April – Slade Valley – IMBRC (also NPS #1)
9th May – Three Rock – MAD (also NPS #2)
XC Development Series Round 2 – Ballyhoura

Round 1 of the XC Development Series was a huge success with 165 riders turning up to give it a shot in the snow at Ballinastoe. Round 2 takes place on March 7th in Ballyhoura, Co. Cork. You can find full details at www.irishxcmtb.com.
As part of his continuing support of the XC Development race series, Niall Davis from Biking.ie will be taking two groups of five riders out for a pre-lap (or part thereof, due to the length of the lap) of the Ballyhoura race circuit on the morning of the race. The aim of the pre-lap is to help the riders get through their first race with some hints and tips. The prizes go to the first 10 riders to contact them via the form on www.biking.ie. And don’t forget there is also a prize for the winner of the Sports B race to receive a private training day with Biking.ie!
